Module 1

Take Charge of an Assigned Portfolio

You will map the working relationships around an assigned portfolio, handle an incoming issue, ask diagnostic questions and check the meaning and permission of the data you receive. By the end, you can start an owner conversation with a reliable account of the problem and a clear next step.

Map franchisee and franchisor contacts so information reaches the right person.

Five practical steps

  1. State the issue and immediate owner need

  3. For each person, record the purpose and information need
  4. Choose an appropriate contact path

  2. Invite the owner's sequence of events
  3. Reflect back and invite correction
  4. Separate evidence categories

Understand Performance and Observe the Operation

The situation

At a fictional Australian fitness franchise, repeat bookings appear to have softened while one report feed is incomplete. A customer awaits a reply, equipment for a new class is delayed, and an owner proposes using an unapproved AI service on named customer messages.

Your task

Prepare a concise recommendation for the owner and manager: name the immediate response, separate verified facts from hypotheses, propose one owner-led action, route specialist decisions and set a comparable review point.

Questions and details

Frequently asked questions

Open the sections that matter to you, including delivery format, AI-supported practice and the evidence used to design the curriculum.

Who is this franchise management course for?

It is designed for professionals beginning first-line support of franchised owners and units, including aspiring franchise business consultants, field managers, performance coaches and operations coordinators. It assumes no previous franchise-sector role, while workplace decisions always follow the learner's actual assignment and local employer process.

How does the course work?

The online, self-paced course contains 20 applied lessons in four modules, an applied capstone and three role-starter resources. Learners can study at a flexible pace within one month and mark Moodle activities complete as they progress.

What practical work will I complete?

You will practise a distinct workplace artifact in each lesson, including a portfolio remit map, evidence and performance records, owner-conversation notes, specialist handoffs, action plans and readiness checks. The capstone asks for one franchisee support recommendation memo.

How is AI used in the practical work?

Lessons use AI for bounded drafting and critique with supplied or authorized inputs. Each exercise requires a human source check, decision-right review and privacy check before any draft is used. The course's fictional cases can be practised without uploading identifiable customer or employee data.

What evidence shaped the curriculum?

MTF Institute reviewed 56 verified current franchise field-support roles across the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and India. Three provisional and fifteen recently closed roles provide separate context; they are not counted in the principal current sample. Read the vacancy study, its open DOI record and the independent international trends review.

Which decisions remain with the franchisee or specialists?

The course teaches first-line support: interpreting evidence, asking useful questions, coordinating authorized help and tracking agreed actions. Franchisees retain their own business and employment decisions. Contract, privacy, safety, customer-remedy, financial and rollout approvals follow the learner's actual local employer rules and named decision owners.

What certificate and access will I receive?

After successful enrollment you receive access to the MTF learning platform. Completing the course provides an MTF Institute course-completion certificate titled Professional Certificate in Franchise Management; the closing section also includes an MTF Student ID activity.
