At a glance

We reviewed 65 distinct current U.S.-workplace hotel revenue-management openings found through a bounded search of public employer and applicant-tracking pages. Sixty-one are in the core operational-role analysis; four are separately tagged senior progression positions. The postings repeatedly connect revenue work to forecasting, pricing, segment and channel choices, inventory, and commercial review. They differ substantially in scope and authority: an assistant who supports a pricing decision, a property director who sets controls, and a portfolio executive who reviews strategies are not interchangeable jobs.

These are mentions in a purposively selected set of advertisements, not estimates of what share of U.S. hotels use a practice or what share of U.S. employers require a skill. A job ad can omit work that happens in the role. The count of 65 is neither a national vacancy total nor a hiring forecast.

How the openings were selected and checked

The research window covered 1–2 October 2026, with a common currentness check on 2 October UTC. The search used declared, bounded windows at 20 hotel chain and brand groups, 20 management operators, five further operators, ten independent and franchise operators, five regional query families, named official career-category searches, and hospitality job boards and LinkedIn as leads. A candidate entered the accepted set only after its exact employer, chain-hosted franchise, or ATS detail; U.S. workplace; hotel revenue remit; distinct requisition or hosted identifier; and active application route were assessed. Search snippets and board result totals were not counted as open jobs. Duplicate publisher and application pages for one employer requisition received one vote.

The screening ledger contains 90 distinct records, of which 65 met the direct-role rule at the cut-off. A separate title-neutral rule admitted four U.S.-workplace executive roles only when their postings assigned direct hotel revenue strategy and room pricing, forecast, channel, business-mix oversight, or leadership of the accountable hotel revenue team. They remain outside the 61-role core operational sensitivity. The 65 accepted postings map to 36 hiring-employer groups and 49 conservative candidate wording-template groups; the core 61 map to 34 and 46, respectively. Columbia Hospitality's VP Revenue and VP Sales & Revenue are separate requisitions that share one employer and one candidate wording group.

The final status check found 64 live-confirmed details and one active Apply page with conflicting U.S. city/property text. The latter is Highgate requisition 2026-83011. It contributes one U.S. requisition, but no resolved property, city, or regional attribution. This finite, accessible frame was independently accepted for a transparent below-100 research exception. It does not establish that fewer than 100 suitable openings exist across the United States; other employers, franchisees, search windows, and inaccessible systems remain outside this sample.

What the postings mention

The table counts an explicit, source-linked mention in the coded duties, outputs, hard skills, observable workplace behavior, distribution-channel detail, tools, or cadence fields, as applicable to each family rule. For example, a forecast named as a deliverable counts even if the ad does not separately name “forecasting” as a duty. The table does not measure time spent on a task or test whether the applicant could perform it.

Requirement family Core requisitions / 61 Core employers / 34 Core wording groups / 46 All requisitions / 65 All employers / 36 All wording groups / 49
Forecasting and pace 57 31 42 59 32 43
Pricing and rates 61 34 46 64 36 48
Segmentation and business mix 42 27 32 44 28 33
Distribution and channels 46 29 34 49 31 36
Revenue or commercial meetings 36 20 27 37 21 28
Inventory and restrictions 46 28 34 46 28 34
Group-related work or segment 38 24 31 39 25 32
Explicit group displacement 9 8 9 9 8 9

The employer and wording columns give each group at most one vote per family. They show that repeated vacancies and similar descriptions can raise requisition counts without adding independent evidence of a new employer practice. They are sensitivity checks within this sample, not population adjustments. The four senior positions add executive-level strategy and sales or ecommerce context to the all-65 column; core-role interpretation should use the 61-role column.

Forecasting, pricing and inventory

The broadest coded themes are forecast or booking-pace work and pricing or rate analysis, support, or decisions. The Grand Hyatt San Francisco director posting combines forecast and performance reporting with pricing, inventory restrictions, and a revenue meeting. The Ritz-Carlton South Beach dual senior manager posting connects room and group inventory, weekly projections, and rate restrictions. These examples demonstrate the link between analysis and controls in those exact roles; they do not prove that every hotel delegates the same controls to its revenue manager.

Segment, group and channel decisions

The Wolseley New York property director posting is a detailed example of segment pricing, channel mix, overbooking protection, and group-quote or displacement analysis. The distinction between 38 core mentions of group-related work and nine explicit group-displacement mentions matters: a reference to group business does not establish that the role calculates displacement. Distribution references range from channel-mix analysis to rate and availability execution. The Aimbridge regional director posting, for example, names brand and third-party channels and OTA coordination. No unnamed OTA, GDS, or channel system was imputed to other postings.

Meetings and communication

Thirty-six core postings mention a revenue or commercial meeting somewhere in their coded evidence. This includes facilitating a review, preparing material for it, or acting on its decisions; it does not mean all 36 chair a weekly meeting. The Mandarin Oriental Boston revenue and reservations role produces a commercial strategy pack and month-end critique while also supervising reservations work. Its distribution updates are under the Director of Commercial Strategy. That mix illustrates why meeting participation and decision authority must be read at the individual requisition level.

Deliverables, tools, qualifications and authority

Job descriptions leave uneven detail. “Unknown” below means the accepted ad did not state a codable item; it does not mean the employer never uses that practice.

Coded field Stated in at least one form Unknown in the ad Interpretation
Outputs 58 / 65 7 / 65 Forecasts, performance reports, recommendations and owner material appear in different roles.
Named or generic tools 58 / 65 7 / 65 Some name Excel, PMS, RMS, CRS, BI or benchmark data; brands and access vary.
Distribution channel detail 30 / 65 35 / 65 A general distribution duty is not proof of a named channel.
Required qualifications 57 / 65 8 / 65 Experience and education wording varies by level and employer.
Preferred qualifications 44 / 65 21 / 65 Unstated preferences were not inferred.
Screening-specific qualifications 2 / 65 63 / 65 An ad rarely exposes all selection rules.
Activity plus cadence 57 / 65 8 / 65 The interval may be daily, weekly, monthly, annual or simply “regularly.”
Some decision-authority wording 62 / 65 3 / 65 “Recommend,” “review,” “manage,” and “approve” are different powers.
Explicit escalation wording 4 / 65 61 / 65 Silence does not prove that exceptions are unmanaged.

Examples of outputs include the Wolseley director’s forecast, two-year strategy and budget proposal, performance-variance presentation, and group-quote analysis. The Hilton San Francisco Union Square assistant manager is linked to forecasts and custom reports but supports pricing decisions rather than owning them. In the source coding, named tools range from Excel and VBA in that assistant role to RMS, PMS, CRS, channel management and benchmark data in the Wolseley role. A tool mentioned in one ad is not a universal software requirement.

Qualification language likewise follows scope. The Columbia VP of Revenue asks for long progressive leadership experience across multiple hotels or a management-company portfolio. It is senior progression evidence, not an entry requirement for a property manager. The Grand Hyatt San Francisco and Hilton Waikoloa Village postings illustrate different property-specific combinations of experience and systems knowledge. “Required” and “preferred” were coded separately; a preferred skill was never promoted to a universal prerequisite.

Cadence is tied to an activity. The Aimbridge regional posting identifies daily team support, weekly and monthly forecasting guidance, and an annual budget process. The Ritz-Carlton dual manager posting names weekly forecasts. Some ads use only “regularly,” which does not justify assigning a weekly interval. Similarly, the Wolseley director defines segment pricing and overbooking protection, while the Hilton assistant supports pricing decisions. A portfolio executive may lead budget planning without final budget approval being stated. These are different decision rights.

Boundaries that matter when using this evidence

The 61 core rows include support and mixed roles, not 61 independent property managers. Assistant roles such as Hilton San Francisco Union Square have narrower authority. Mandarin Oriental Boston combines room-revenue decisions with reservations supervision. Atlantis Reno’s assistant director sits in a hotel-and-casino context; gaming duties cannot be generalized to hotels. A separate four-role senior progression stratum includes Virgin Hotels’ Head of Revenue and eCommerce, Hilton RMCC’s Americas managed-hotel director, and the two Columbia VPs. Their U.S. hiring locations do not prove U.S.-only portfolio assignments; the second Columbia posting also has a substantial sales remit.

Application assurance varies. Aimbridge’s Westin Cincinnati franchise posting offers an employer-published email route rather than an ATS form; the relationship between its Aimbridge employer attribution and Evolution Hospitality email domain is unproven. The Nines has a live Sage application linked from a separate Marriott franchise listing; its two publisher/application IDs are not interchangeable requisitions. The Wolseley is identified by its current hosted job ID; an older requisition number is not independently confirmed in the live page. The Omni La Costa posting was discovered through Hcareers, while the exact Omni Dayforce application for Revenue Manager Req #5363 is the primary current application route; Hcareers is a mirror. The Highgate city/property conflict remains unresolved despite active Apply. These limits do not add extra openings or justify property-level conclusions.
