Investor relations teams translate an issuer's results and strategy into materials that investors and analysts can check and question. What does that work require in current hiring notices? A review of 31 distinct issuer-side openings, individually verified as open on 8 October 2026, shows a recurring combination of results communication, investor materials, market analysis and coordination with executives. The evidence is a deliberately selected snapshot, so it describes these postings rather than a national or global hiring pattern.
The five-country research design yielded 27 accepted U.S. roles, no eligible UK role in its bounded issuer search, two Canadian roles, one Australian role and one Singapore role. The U.S. set contains 24 roles at public issuers and three at private issuers; seven of the public roles explicitly mix IR with another function. Both Canadian roles are at listed mining companies. The Australian case is an analyst, and the Singapore case is a 2027 listed-unit IR and sustainability internship. Those different shapes matter when interpreting a shared job title.
How the snapshot was built
We searched for individual employer or employer-authorized openings with a confirmed workplace and substantive issuer-side investor relations or capital-markets communication work. An employer career page, recruiting-system detail or explicit employer application route had to support the live status of each accepted requisition on the research date. Search snippets and mirrored cards served only as leads. A multi-location or mirrored requisition counted once. Advisory-agency, fund-investor servicing and adjacent finance openings were kept outside the issuer-role denominator.
For each accepted posting, we coded the duties, work products, analytical and communication skills, tools, qualifications, seniority, cadence, interfaces and stated escalation. A blank or uncoded field was treated as unknown. Some fields were silent in a full posting; others were only partially captured. The figures below count literal mentions in specified coded fields, with a separate country denominator. They do not prove that nonmatching employers do not need a capability. The underlying source register retains one exact posting URL per requisition.
United States: results work and market analysis across several levels
In the selected 27 U.S. postings, results or earnings work appears in 22 of 27 coded duty/cadence fields, presentation, deck or fact-sheet output in 24 of 27 output fields, and financial-analysis methods in 23 of 27 hard-skill fields. Results or quarterly cadence appears in 25 of 27 cadence fields. These are text-coding counts for the selected jobs, not U.S. labour-market percentages. Hasbro's senior-manager notice links earnings releases, prepared remarks, presentations and Q&A; Oscar Health names modeling, valuation and consensus. AngloGold Ashanti's senior analyst notice adds sell-side model and investor-target work.
Seniority changes the authority implied by the same work product. Datadog's senior IR role owns an earnings process; Eastman's director role contributes to filing work with Finance, Accounting and Legal. Lyell Immunopharma's mixed communications role includes technical translation and spokesperson preparation. These do not give an entry-level employee the senior role's approval rights. The seven public mixed-remit roles remain nested in the 24 public postings; the three private-issuer roles cannot establish public-listing obligations.
Named tools are job-specific. Hasbro lists office and market-data products. A named productivity or market-data product matched 13 of 24 U.S. postings whose tool field was source-coded; three other U.S. tool fields were unstated in the available or full source. This count does not make a named vendor a universal hiring condition.
United Kingdom: no eligible role found in the bounded search
The strict issuer-side UK search yielded zero verified current openings under these inclusion rules. Other live leads involved advisory or fund-service work, and apparently relevant search snippets sometimes led to removed employer pages. This is a limit of the particular search and access route. It does not establish that UK issuer IR vacancies were absent or support a UK employer-requirement rate.
Canada: two listed mining issuers
The retained Canadian cases are Magna Mining's IR manager and Lumina Metals' IR vice president. Magna's notice connects investor presentations and fact sheets with market feedback to senior leaders and the board. Lumina adds project-economics interpretation, public reporting and investor targeting; it places identified disclosure-compliance decisions with the CFO and counsel. Both notices mention investor materials, market or holder intelligence and investor engagement in their coded fields. They are two selected mining roles, not a measure of Canada's overall IR market. Lumina's issuer-linked .pl career page is the supported posting route.
Australia: one analyst case
Symal Group's analyst notice describes support for ASX announcements, investor materials and executive briefings. Its construction experience and AIRA diploma appear as preferred criteria. This single analyst example gives a concrete view of support work and competing deadlines, without establishing the mix of Australian IR roles.
Singapore: one 2027 support role
Keppel's January–May 2027 internship combines listed-unit IR and sustainability support. The intern assists IR officers with results content, presentations, investor events and unitholder or peer analysis. The posting does not name a software vendor or state a degree or experience threshold in the reviewed full source. Those details are unknown, and this internship cannot characterize senior Singapore IR work.
Official developments provide separate context
The postings state what individual employers sought. Official policy and market sources describe a different evidence stream. In the United States, the SEC's September proxy item was a proposal, while an SEC staff memorandum described August overnight trading in a defined market sample. Neither adds a duty to every U.S. vacancy. The UK's FCA sustainability policy statement applies on a future timetable to specified listed issuers; this research has no UK issuer posting to match to it. Canada's CSA modernization item is a consultation, while SEDAR+ updates concern platform operation. Australia's ASIC ownership-transparency changes begin in December 2026, and SGX RegCo's investor-engagement changes begin in 2027 for affected Singapore listed issuers. The operational inference is to verify status, date, entity applicability and the local approval owner before changing an issuer process.
What the roles support in supervised preparation
Across these named examples, a new team member could practice tracing a figure to its source, drafting an investor-material element against approved facts, preparing a market brief, keeping contact records and routing unresolved or sensitive questions to the designated IR, Finance or Legal owner. The advertisements support those observable tasks at different levels of supervision. In a workplace, a new team member routes materiality, disclosure approval, nonpublic release and investment questions to the designated IR, Finance or Legal owner.
This study remains a point-in-time purposive snapshot. Application status may change after 8 October 2026; the small and uneven country sets, two Canadian mining roles, single Australian analyst, single Singapore internship and bounded UK zero yield prevent national prevalence estimates, pooled international rates, country rankings or hiring forecasts. Coded silence is not proof of an absent requirement, and the independent policy context is not an employer requirement.
Research materials
The archived technical report and complete source register preserve the point-in-time method and its limits. The public PDF gives the report in a stable version. A 31-row derived source ledger, data dictionary and coding key with country denominators document the source URLs, coding and missingness behind the bounded figures. Vacancy pages remain with their respective owners; application status can change after the research date.
