Lesson 6 · Capstone

Design the loop
you will actually use.

Create a complete work brief, then take it into Codex or adapt it for Claude Code.

From one task to a reusable system

Start with a real recurring deliverable: a status update, research brief, meeting pack, data cleanup, policy comparison, website update, or another piece of work you can verify.

Run it once with a four-part brief. Observe where the agent guesses, stalls, or repeats a mistake. Then improve the environment:

  1. Keep the successful brief as a template.
  2. Move durable conventions into project guidance such as AGENTS.md or CLAUDE.md.
  3. Connect only the tools or systems the workflow genuinely needs.
  4. Turn a stable repeated procedure into a reusable skill or automation.

Do not automate confusion. First make the workflow observable, bounded, and verifiable.

Your first run in Codex

  1. Open the folder that contains the approved source files.
  2. Start a new Codex task and paste your brief.
  3. Ask the agent to inspect context and state assumptions before changing anything.
  4. Review proposed actions and keep consequential steps behind approval.
  5. Inspect the resulting files, checks, and evidence—not only the summary.

Have a question? Ask your AI teacher to critique the brief you generated and suggest one safe reusable improvement.
