## Professional Certificate in Sales Management

Lead a sales team through one connected operating system. This applied certificate turns territory planning, pipeline evidence, forecast judgment, seller coaching, performance cadence and sales dashboards into practical management routines. The course follows Northstar Learning Systems, a fictional U.S. B2B software company whose sales leaders need to restore clarity and predictability without confusing analysis or recommendation with executive, HR or legal authority.

## Who this course is for

The course is designed for new and aspiring Sales Managers, Regional Sales Managers, Heads of Sales standardizing a growing team, and experienced sellers preparing for direct team leadership. It is especially useful when your role requires you to allocate coverage, inspect opportunities, commit a forecast, develop sellers and explain performance through a recurring management rhythm.

No specialist software or prior management qualification is required. Every method begins with a concrete sales-management decision, makes definitions and evidence visible, and supplies the fictional facts needed for practice. Compensation, employment, legal, finance, privacy and final executive decisions remain with the authorized owners in your organization.

## What you will be able to do

You will learn to translate commercial goals into territories, account coverage, capacity and quota assumptions. You will define pipeline stages around buyer evidence, interpret coverage, conversion, velocity and flow, run decision-focused reviews, inspect deals and build CRM data quality into the management cadence.

You will build a layered forecast, distinguish mechanical roll-ups from manager judgment, record overrides and learn from forecast variance. You will define dashboard measures with formulas, owners, refresh timing and decision uses, then turn those measures into monthly and quarterly choices.

You will also diagnose seller performance with balanced evidence, run focused one-to-one, call and deal coaching loops, set expectations and improvement support within appropriate authority boundaries, and integrate weekly, monthly and quarterly forums into a coherent Sales Manager Operating System.

## How the course works

Each lesson starts with a recognizable sales-management decision, explains a practical method and applies it to the connected Northstar Learning Systems case. You create one reusable workplace artifact from a blank template, inspect a completed example and reasoning notes, then practise with optional AI-assisted drafting and critique. The activities work with ordinary documents and spreadsheets and are designed to transfer to your own approved commercial context.

AI is used only as optional support for organizing supplied facts, comparing scenarios, identifying gaps and improving drafts. You remain responsible for source quality, calculations, assumptions, confidentiality, professional judgment and escalation. AI does not approve territories, quotas, forecasts, employment actions or commercial commitments.

The applied capstone asks you to prepare a 30-Day Sales Management Reset Plan for Northstar. You sequence a bounded set of territory, pipeline, forecast, coaching, dashboard and cadence interventions, assign owners, define checkpoints and identify decisions that require authorized escalation.

## Certificate

After completing the required learning activities and capstone, you receive the MTF Institute Certificate of completion: Professional Certificate in Sales Management. It records completion of professional education and supports a portfolio conversation about the sales-management artifacts and decisions you practised.

## Evidence behind the course

The course is grounded in MTF Institute analysis of 100 current United States sales-management vacancies from 93 employers, supported by an independent review of current practice and baseline professional sources. In the vacancy corpus, 96 roles referenced CRM or data, 95 coaching, 71 forecasting, 69 performance cadence, 67 pipeline management, 51 dashboards and 45 territory planning.

The curriculum turns those recurring expectations into observable workplace tasks and original, tool-neutral artifacts. It does not reproduce proprietary sales methodologies and does not confer authority over regulated, legal, employment, compensation or financial decisions. Research geography and publication dates remain explicit so learners can judge transfer to their employer, sector and jurisdiction.
