## Revenue Operations Operating System: Funnel, CRM, Forecasting and Growth Analytics

Revenue Operations creates value when commercial definitions, CRM records, routing, handoffs, pipeline, forecasts and dashboards operate as one controlled system. A polished dashboard can still be weak if lifecycle rules conflict. A forecast can be current yet unreliable if overrides and evidence cut-offs are hidden. An automated workflow can be fast while routing the wrong account or concealing an exception. This course develops the practical discipline needed to connect those elements while preserving traceability, uncertainty and accountable human decisions.

The course follows Northstar Cloud, an entirely fictional subscription workflow provider. Across twenty lessons, learners make twenty distinct professional decisions and create twenty original workplace artifacts. A separate applied capstone reconciles those artifacts into a **Revenue Operations Control Pack**. The capstone does not become a twenty-first lesson, an executive approval, a production change or a promise of commercial performance.

## Who this course is for

The course is designed for professionals who create, challenge or use cross-functional commercial operating evidence, including:

- aspiring and current Revenue Operations analysts and managers;
- go-to-market, sales and marketing operations professionals;
- customer-success operations and commercial-operations specialists;
- CRM, revenue-systems and business-analytics practitioners;
- finance partners who reconcile pipeline and forecast inputs; and
- commercial leaders who need more transparent operating evidence.

No programming background is required. Learners should be comfortable with business measures, CRM concepts, spreadsheets, assumptions and professional judgment. The course is general professional education. It does not provide legal, privacy, accounting, investment or employment advice, confer a licence, guarantee forecast accuracy or promise employment, promotion, salary, revenue growth or organizational outcomes.

## What you will be able to do

By the end of the course, you will be able to:

1. frame a bounded Revenue Operations decision system with clear owners and evidence cut-offs;
2. map stakeholders, contribution boundaries, escalation routes and review forums;
3. control commercial lifecycle, metric and CRM data definitions;
4. diagnose entity, data-quality, routing and handoff exceptions;
5. examine funnel movement, leakage and pipeline reconciliation;
6. operate a commercial forecast cadence with controlled overrides and scenarios;
7. specify decision-ready dashboards and executive operating reviews;
8. evaluate experiment and attribution evidence without overstating causality;
9. govern revenue technology, integrations, automation and AI assistance; and
10. assemble a reviewable Revenue Operations Control Pack.

## Applied learning: build the Revenue Operations Control Pack

Every core lesson develops a different Northstar Cloud case episode, explains the relevant decision and evidence, provides an original reusable template and shows how to test the artifact with fictional facts. Each lesson includes three model-agnostic AI Practice prompts for evidence diagnosis, artifact construction and adversarial review. AI is used to organize, compare, draft and challenge supplied material; it is not treated as source evidence, approval or production authority.

Across four modules, you will create twenty connected artifacts covering decision rights, stakeholder ownership, lifecycle definitions, metrics, CRM data, entity resolution, routing, handoffs, funnel and pipeline analysis, forecasts, overrides, dashboards, executive reviews, experiments, technology, integrations, automation, AI controls and continuous improvement.

The separate capstone asks you to freeze accepted versions, reconcile definitions and identifiers, preserve contradictions, reperform material checks and connect each executive statement to its underlying evidence. Weak source artifacts are revised at their owning lesson rather than hidden by a polished final summary.

## Curriculum

### Module 1 — Revenue Operations foundations and definitions

1. **Define the Revenue Operations decision system** — create a decision and authority record.
2. **Map stakeholders, ownership and escalation** — create a stakeholder and decision-rights map.
3. **Control commercial lifecycle definitions** — create a lifecycle-definition register.
4. **Specify metrics before building reports** — create a controlled metric dictionary.
5. **Govern critical CRM data** — create a CRM data-governance plan.

The first module establishes purpose, owners, definitions and evidence before automation or reporting begins. Learners distinguish source facts, assumptions, recommendations and approvals, then define the controls needed for a reproducible Revenue Operations system.

### Module 2 — CRM data, routing, handoffs and funnel diagnostics

6. **Resolve entities and diagnose data quality** — create an entity-resolution and data-quality diagnostic.
7. **Design controlled lead and account routing** — create routing rules, reason codes and exception paths.
8. **Build measurable cross-functional handoffs** — create a handoff control register.
9. **Diagnose funnel movement and leakage** — create a funnel diagnostic with explicit cohort rules.
10. **Reconcile pipeline movement** — create a pipeline movement bridge and exception log.

The second module turns CRM records into cross-functional processes that can be tested. Learners expose duplicates, missing ownership, invalid transitions, returns and unresolved exceptions instead of forcing records into convenient categories.

### Module 3 — Forecasting, dashboards and revenue evidence

11. **Establish a commercial forecast cadence** — create a forecast operating calendar and evidence protocol.
12. **Control forecast overrides and scenarios** — create an override and scenario register.
13. **Design decision-ready dashboards** — create a dashboard specification and reconciliation checklist.
14. **Run an executive Revenue Operations review** — create a decision-ready operating review.
15. **Evaluate experiments and attribution evidence** — create an experiment and attribution evidence record.

The third module treats forecasts and analytics as versioned evidence processes. Learners preserve definitions, chronology, uncertainty and alternative explanations while connecting each view to a named business question and authorized reviewer.

### Module 4 — Revenue technology, AI controls and continuous improvement

16. **Manage revenue technology as capabilities** — create a revenue-technology capability and ownership map.
17. **Map integrations and operational dependencies** — create an integration and dependency register.
18. **Control automation from trigger to rollback** — create an automation control and rollback log.
19. **Use AI assistance with accountable review** — create a responsible AI-use and verification record.
20. **Govern change and continuous improvement** — create a controlled improvement backlog and decision record.

The final module governs technology as a portfolio of operating capabilities rather than a vendor shopping list. Learners define input rights, dependencies, failure modes, monitoring, review, fallback and rollback before consequential changes are accepted.

### Separate Applied Capstone

**Assemble the Revenue Operations Control Pack.** Reconcile the twenty lesson-owned artifacts and complete a consistency review of the fictional Northstar Cloud operating system. The capstone checks identity, chronology, sources, definitions, owners, exceptions, versions, uncertainty, recommendations, decisions and AI-use records. It introduces no additional professional artifact and ends with an executive decision index, unresolved-evidence list and learner self-assessment.

## How the course works

The course is 100% online and self-paced. It can be completed within one month, depending on your pace and the depth with which you complete the practical assignments. A useful rhythm is one module per week followed by the applied capstone, but learners can adapt the schedule to their availability.

The Northstar Cloud chronology runs continuously from shared definitions and CRM evidence through routing, handoffs, pipeline, forecast, dashboard and technology controls. Learners preserve what is observed, what is assumed, what is calculated, what remains unknown and which person owns the next consequential choice.

You can use the supplied fictional case throughout the course. If you adapt an artifact to a workplace context, use only sanitized information that you are authorized to handle. Never place credentials, personal data, confidential customer records, private prices, contracts or protected employer material into an unapproved AI service.

## AI-supported practice and self-assessment

AI Practice is model-agnostic and bounded to preparation work. It can help classify supplied records, identify missing fields, compare versions, challenge an assumption, draft a structured artifact or test whether a narrative reconciles with supplied facts. Every prompt preserves the company, situation, case evidence, decision, stakeholders, available evidence, measures, feasible levers, known risks and evidence cut-off.

The learner verifies every retained statement against accepted sources. Production changes and consequential conclusions require the named human owner in the learner’s organization. A high self-assessment score does not certify commercial performance, forecast accuracy, system reliability, regulatory compliance or future results.

## Certificate

After completing the learning activities, learners can access the MTF Institute course-completion certificate and MTF Student ID from the final learning-platform section. The certificate uses the course title **Revenue Operations Operating System: Funnel, CRM, Forecasting and Growth Analytics**. It records completion of a non-degree professional course. It is not a university degree, academic credit, software-vendor qualification, professional licence, accredited personnel certification or forecast assurance.

## Evidence behind the course

The course design is connected to three original MTF Institute prerequisites:

- [Revenue Operations Work in 2026: Evidence from 109 Vacancies](https://mtfinstitute.com/insights/revenue-operations-work-109-vacancies-2026/) examines a bounded, point-in-time corpus of public vacancies and separates observed employer demand from universal role claims.
- [Open research archive — DOI 10.5281/zenodo.22094708](https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.22094708) preserves the verified research record and publication lineage.
- [Revenue Operations in 2026: Nine Controls for a Trustworthy Growth Engine](https://mtfinstitute.com/insights/revenue-operations-2026-nine-controls-trustworthy-growth-engine/) presents an original practice synthesis with explicit evidence, authority and AI-use boundaries.

The vacancy study is purposive rather than a global census. The course does not promise employment, salary, promotion, professional recognition, certification or business outcomes.
