## What this template helps you do

Build a clear resume around work you have actually performed and outputs you can explain. The linked vacancy sample shows several related role paths, not one universal occupation. A reliability applicant may lead with failure analysis and maintenance priorities; an IIoT/OT applicant may lead with asset identity, interface requirements and signal quality; an operations applicant may lead with production performance, acceptance records and operating handoffs. Use the job's stated duties to select the evidence that belongs on your resume.

## ATS-readable principles

- Use one text column, ordinary section headings and a consistent reverse-chronological experience order. Keep your name, contact details, dates and job titles in readable text.
- Save and submit the file type requested by the employer. Review the exported file to confirm that all text is selectable and appears in the intended order.
- Use exact, truthful terms from the target posting where they describe work you performed. Pair a term with an action and output; a disconnected keyword list is weak evidence.
- Expand an unfamiliar abbreviation at first use when space permits, such as operational technology (OT) or computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Use the abbreviation afterward.
- Name software, protocols, instruments and production systems only when you have used them. Distinguish hands-on configuration from analysis of data those systems produced.
- State your part in a result. Include a measurement window, baseline or denominator when it makes a metric understandable. Do not claim that an alert, model or dashboard proved a failure cause or authorized a repair.
- Avoid pictures, icons, text boxes, decorative skill bars, hidden keywords and long tables in the submitted resume. A reader should be able to find your evidence quickly in plain text.
- Keep a master resume with full, verified details. Make a targeted copy for each application, then check names, dates, links and claims before submitting it.

## Contact and header pattern

`FULL NAME`
`City, State | phone | professional email | optional relevant portfolio or professional profile URL`

Add a concise target line only when it clarifies the role family, for example `Reliability Data Analyst | Asset Performance and Maintenance Evidence`. Do not insert a desired job title that implies experience you do not have. A street address, photograph and personal identifiers are unnecessary for this template.

## Professional profile pattern

Write two or three sentences that connect your level, operating setting, strongest methods and reviewable outputs to the vacancy. Use this pattern as a drafting aid:

`[Role or relevant experience] with [years or scope, if verifiable] in [production or industrial setting]. [Performed actions] using [tools or data actually used], producing [analysis, recommendation, acceptance record or handoff]. [Collaboration or decision boundary] with [maintenance, operations, OT or other relevant partners].`

For an early-career applicant, replace an unsupported years claim with a project or supervised-work scope. For a specialist position, state the specialization and the limits of your direct authority precisely. Do not call an analysis role a controls engineering, licensed engineering or maintenance execution role unless your experience supports it.

## Core skills and keyword bank

Select only terms that match the target vacancy and your actual experience. Put the most relevant six to twelve in a short `Core Skills` section, then demonstrate the important ones in experience bullets.

- **Asset and reliability work:** asset hierarchy, equipment criticality, failure modes, recurring-failure review, maintenance strategy, work-order recommendation, post-action verification.
- **Condition and performance analysis:** operating-state context, sensor validity, alert triage, false-alert review, trend interpretation, production-loss analysis, root-cause reasoning, uncertainty documentation.
- **Connected factory data:** industrial IoT, OT data flows, asset identifiers, tag mapping, historian data, data lineage, interface requirements, ingestion checks, interoperability acceptance criteria.
- **Work products and collaboration:** evidence record, diagnostic note, maintenance handoff, production handoff, acceptance checklist, decision log, escalation to an authorized owner.
- **Tools and systems, when used:** CMMS or work-order platform, historian, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) view, manufacturing execution system (MES), dashboard, spreadsheet, SQL, Python, sensor or condition-monitoring platform.

Named systems and protocols are posting-specific. Examples such as SAP, Fiix, FactoryTalk, OPC UA or MQTT belong on a resume only when your experience and the target job justify them. Do not list them as universal requirements.

## Experience and achievement structure

For each role, give `Job title | Employer | City, State or Remote | Month Year–Month Year`. Follow with three to six bullets focused on the target job. Start each bullet with an action, identify the asset or process scope, state your method or collaboration, and end with a concrete output or bounded result.

Useful bullet pattern: `Action + scope and context + method or collaborators + reviewable output/result.`

- `Mapped [number] asset records to [source] tags with [team], resolving [number] mismatches before [analysis or handoff].`
- `Reviewed [number] condition alerts over [period], checked [operating-state and signal-quality evidence], and documented [number] recommendations for authorized maintenance review.`
- `Analyzed [defined production loss or recurring failure] using [records and method]; delivered [decision record] with [uncertainty, alternatives and owner].`
- `Specified [data interface or acceptance criteria] for [asset group], tested [defined checks], and recorded [exceptions or follow-up].`
- `Compared [before/after measure] across [period and denominator] after an authorized change; reported the observed result without attributing unverified causation.`

If a number is unavailable, use a bounded description such as `three production lines`, `one pilot asset group` or `a weekly maintenance review`. Never invent a percentage, time saving or avoided failure. If your contribution was analysis, write `recommended`, `documented` or `supported`; reserve `approved`, `repaired`, `commissioned` and `changed controls` for work you personally performed with authority.

## Tools, education and other learning

Use a `Tools and Systems` line for systems you can discuss in an interview, grouped by purpose: `Maintenance records: [system]; industrial data: [historian/SCADA/MES]; analysis: [SQL/Python/spreadsheet]; interfaces: [protocol or data model if used]`. State whether you viewed data, queried records, specified an interface or configured a system when that distinction matters.

In `Education`, list only completed, verifiable education with its accurate institution, award and date where relevant. Put incomplete study or coursework in its own truthful form. Include a certificate, license or safety qualification only if you hold it and can substantiate it. Relevant projects and employer training may sit under `Projects` or `Additional Learning` when they strengthen a particular application.

## Tailoring checklist

- Identify the posting's primary role family, assigned duties, required skills, preferred skills and any stated authority or site requirements.
- Choose a profile and skill terms that match both the posting and your evidence. Remove unused keywords and products.
- Put the most relevant, defensible work examples first within each job. Keep a clear link from each claimed skill to an experience bullet or project.
- Check every count, date, baseline, timeframe, tool name, employer name, education statement and personal link against your records.
- Make the decision boundary explicit when your work led to a recommendation, approval request or handoff rather than physical execution.
- Read the exported document as plain text, confirm the section order and contact details, and follow the employer's file and application instructions.

## Common failure patterns

- **A universal-role claim:** Listing every reliability, controls, cybersecurity and condition-monitoring skill makes the resume less credible. Select the path supported by your work and the target posting.
- **Keyword stuffing:** A skills list that never appears in an example does not show proficiency. Tie priority terms to actions and outputs.
- **Unbounded impact:** `Prevented all failures` or `cut downtime 40%` without a baseline, period and scope is not reviewable. Use measured, attributable observations or describe the deliverable instead.
- **Confused authority:** An analyst who recommended a work order should not say they approved repairs or changed live controls. Name the owner who reviewed the recommendation when relevant.
- **System inflation:** Viewing a historian trend is different from configuring industrial interfaces. State the level of interaction accurately.
- **Unreadable export:** Text embedded in images, columns or text boxes may be missed by readers or parsing tools. Check the submitted file's reading order.
- **Generic profile:** `Results-driven team player` gives no evidence. Name the equipment context, method and work product that fit the role.
