Use this ATS-friendly resume template to describe work you actually performed in corporate compliance, ethics, risk, audit or a closely related function. A good resume lets a reader find your scope, decisions, work products and results quickly. Adapt it to the specific posting and preserve the employer's distinction between required and preferred qualifications.

## Make the file easy to read

- Use one text column and familiar section names: Professional Summary, Core Skills, Professional Experience, Education, Certifications and Tools.
- Put your name and contact details in the main document body. Use a professional email, phone, city and state, and a relevant profile link only if it is accurate and current. Leave out a street address, birth date, photograph and government ID.
- Use ordinary text, bullets and consistent dates. Avoid text boxes, icons, graphics, rating bars, hidden keywords, elaborate tables and critical information in headers or footers.
- Follow the application instructions for file type. A simple DOCX is often convenient; submit a text-based PDF when the employer accepts it. Before submitting, copy text from the final file to confirm the order and characters remain readable.
- Use the posting's own terms where they describe work you can substantiate. Expand an acronym once when useful: “third-party risk management (TPRM).” A matching term is not a substitute for evidence.
- Keep the resume relevant to the level sought. An analyst can show reliable intake, records and escalation; a manager can show program ownership, cross-functional decisions and measurable improvements. Do not claim approval, legal or disciplinary authority you did not hold.

## Build a focused profile

Write two to four lines covering your current or target level, relevant setting, two or three real capabilities and a concrete kind of output. Name the jurisdiction or sector only when it matches your experience and the role. Avoid generic claims such as “results-driven compliance expert” without supporting work below.

**Profile pattern:** [Role or transferable background] with [verified years or scope] in [setting]. Experienced in [two or three relevant processes] and producing [specific records, recommendations or reports]. Known for [observable behavior such as clear escalation or cross-functional coordination]. Seeking [target role or contribution].

## Select a truthful keyword bank

Choose the terms that appear in the target job and accurately describe your own work. The research sample contains different levels and sectors; no candidate needs every item.

- **Program operations:** code of conduct, policy governance, compliance risk assessment, control testing, monitoring, corrective action, remediation tracking, audit readiness, executive reporting.
- **Third parties and anti-bribery:** third-party due diligence, risk tiering, anti-bribery and anti-corruption, FCPA issue spotting, gifts and hospitality review, conflicts of interest, sanctions screening. Include a law or screening method only if you used it within its actual scope.
- **Speak-up and investigations:** reporting-channel intake, case triage, evidence preservation, interview coordination, neutral findings, root-cause analysis, anti-retaliation follow-up. State whether you led an inquiry, supported it or routed it to an authorized owner.
- **Training and culture:** audience mapping, role-based training, learning-system administration, completion follow-up, ethics communications, survey analysis.
- **Working methods:** risk register, policy inventory, decision log, case-management record, dashboard, data-quality checks, stakeholder briefing. Name software products only if you actually used them.

## Describe experience as evidence

For each position, give employer, location, title and month/year dates. Use three to five bullets for your most relevant role. Each bullet should connect an action to its scope, output and result:

**Action + scope + work product + verified result or decision.**

For example, a true bullet might say that you reconciled policy-owner records across several units, produced a version-controlled register and reduced overdue reviews by a figure you can verify. If a number is unavailable, describe a concrete, checkable outcome such as an approved handoff or a completed audit evidence pack. Do not fabricate percentages, name confidential case subjects, disclose protected information or imply that a recommendation was an approval.

For a move from audit, legal operations, HR or risk, translate transferable tasks precisely: “tracked remediation evidence for internal audit findings” is stronger than relabelling unrelated work as “managed the ethics program.” Place coursework or simulated projects in a separate Projects section, clearly distinct from paid employment.

- Rebuilt the code and policy review calendar with Legal and 18 policy owners; version-controlled approvals and reduced overdue policy reviews from 14 to three over two review cycles.

## Tailor and verify before sending

- Read the actual posting. Mark what is required, what is preferred and which duties belong to this role's level and sector.
- Choose the skills and experience bullets that show direct evidence for those duties. Reorder truthful bullets so the most relevant work appears first.
- Match exact wording only where accurate. Spell out uncommon acronyms and keep employer-specific legal or tool claims scoped to your own work.
- Check every title, employer, date, degree, certification, tool, number and claimed outcome against your records. Replace the completed example entirely with your own facts.
- Test the saved file: select and copy the text, confirm section order and dates, inspect the final page, and follow the employer's upload instructions.

## Common failure patterns

- Listing FCPA, sanctions, AML or healthcare rules as expertise because they appeared in a keyword bank, without real work to support the claim.
- Calling an intake note a completed investigation, a recommendation an approval, a training completion rate a behavior change, or a proposed control an effective one.
- Inserting a simulated case under Professional Experience or borrowing the example's employers, numbers, degree or achievements.
- Filling a long skills block with every possible term while leaving the experience bullets vague.
- Letting columns, images or text boxes disrupt the reading order, or submitting a scanned PDF with no selectable text.
- Disclosing personal or confidential case information to make a bullet seem more impressive.
