## Learning across borders and backgrounds

MTF Institute serves an international professional community. Learners arrive with different languages, cultures, careers, ages, beliefs, abilities and levels of prior education. That variety improves discussion when people can participate without being stereotyped, dismissed or pressured to hide relevant parts of their identity.

## Our working principles

- Respect the dignity and agency of each learner.
- Assess work against communicated learning criteria.
- Use examples that make sense across regions rather than assuming one national context is universal.
- Avoid unnecessary barriers in language, format and digital interaction.
- Respond to credible concerns about harassment, discrimination or exclusion.
- Improve materials when learners identify a genuine accessibility or cultural problem.

## Inclusion does not remove standards

An inclusive environment still requires academic honesty, professional conduct and evidence-based discussion. Different perspectives may be challenged, but the challenge should be relevant, proportionate and directed at the claim rather than the person. Inclusion also does not guarantee that every program or platform feature will meet every individual requirement; learners should contact us before enrollment when a specific accommodation is essential.

## Requesting support

For an accessibility question, participation concern or reasonable adjustment request, write to [welcome@gtf.pt](mailto:welcome@gtf.pt) and describe the barrier and the outcome you need. Please avoid sending sensitive medical information unless it is necessary for the request. We will review what is reasonably possible within the format and platform used by the relevant program.
